Fairer fines for people just over the limit, and higher fines for those going faster.... sounds like spin to me....
looks like basically what theyre doing is introducing new fines for going just over the limit, and raising existing fines

Fair... I dont think so....
But what they 'forgot' to mention was that the current 'grace' (to take into account of speedometer error) will be abolished and that anyone travelling even 1mph over the speed limit *will* get nicked..... yet AGAIN more 'clever' spin!
See www.peppoo.com for threads all about this....

TBH, I'm not too concerned about the fines/points, I'd rather they'd address the limits themselves. Too many inappropriate ones are being lowered, many too high ones in built up areas and motorway limits that are a joke.
Incidentally the message that is sent out by these new fines is that it's 'safer' to do 39 in a built up area with loads of pedestrians than doing 94 on an empty motorway. Go figure!
