SKY+ Question
Currently if you order Sky+ and only want the premium channels (i.e. no sports or movies) you are charged an additional £10 per month on top of your subscription.
So, what if you were to order normal sky and once installed, go out and purchase the Sky+ box and hook it up. Will it work or does something need to be activated by Sky themselves?
Just a thought!

I suspect that £10 is to cover the + services such as being able to watch one program and record another and so on. Just a guess, but I can't see them offering those services without charging for them

The sky+ receiver comes with a new quad-output LNB, which replaces the single output LNB you get with 'ordinary' sky. You need to wire in an additional cable from the LNB to the sky+ box to take advantage of some of the features (like dual-channel record; watch one channel while recording another, etc)
If you buy your sky+ box from a thrid party (like I did) you have to contact sky in order to get sky+ 'enabled' on your account. This is free if your subscription is costly enough (£30 per month, I think).

Thought so.
Currently if you take family pack and more than one premium channel they do not charge the £10.
If however like me you only want family pack then they add the £10 per month.
Do they provide a dual or quad LNB?
