My first speeding ticket
Got my first speeding ticket today. 3 points to go on my nice clean licence. How long will they stay on there?
Annoying thing was they were actually waiting for me. Someone complained so they sat in wait hiding in a side road and he was stood behind a bush!

they only add up for 3 years tho. eg if you get a 5 pointer in 3.5 years you will only have 5 points as far as the total goes. after 4 years you can have the points removed from the paper copy of you licence.

I have a feeling it was a car I overtook last week. He was doing over 40 anyway. By the time he caught up with me at a roundabout he was waving his arms about and shouting at me before I zoomed off again.
I think the policeman was probably shocked to see an old bint at the wheel though

Soulgirl- Sorry to hear about your points: shouldn't affect your premium too much, if at all. To the best of my knowledge, detectors are completely legal, as they serve to inform. Anything that attempts to foil a speed trap, by that I mean prevent it from getting a clear reading on your speed or taking a picture of your car's number plate, is illegal. Best not to argue with police though, if you appear sorry enough, they might just let you off with a "Don't do it again"!
The nub of the matter is: If speed traps are supposed to be a visible deterrent to speeding, then why would the authorities object to devices that ensure that you know where the speed traps are? If you're not supposed to see them, then surely that means the focus is on 'catching' rather than 'preventing' which is misguided....unless you want to raise revenue, of course, but why would the authorities want to do that? onder2: Hint: the police are driving BMW 5 series around my way!

I think he was in a Vectra actually I get a lot of road rage aimed at me.. you know, trying to overtake, beat me off the lights, kissing my back bumper etc. Goes with the territory I guess. I nearly offered a ******* as a joke but thought better of it.... imagine my horror if he had accepted LOL

Trouble is he probably *would* have accepted.
A friend of mine in San Francisco has been stopped nearly 20 times for speeding and has only had to pay a fine once. She flutters her eyelashes, shows some cleavage and they let her off every time. The time she had to pay she was stopped by the same cop who'd stopped her the week before hence he wasn't going to let her off a second time.
Good luck to her I say - if the cops are dumb enough to keep letting her off then that's their problem

Scenario 1 - you're driving down a road, see plod or camera, slow down, drive past then speed up again. you still speed.
Scenario 2 - you're driving down a road that you know to have policemen hiding, you stay below the limit all the way for fear of getting caught, especially as you can't see them. end result is you end up not speeding.
In effect, hidden cameras can be the most effective way of cutting speeding. The visible cameras option is nicer as we can slow down where we see them and speed where they are not.

I couldn't have done the ******* option for several reasons:
1. would have been late for work
2. it was broad daylight in a rather posh road
3. i'm married
4. i dont like to eat breakfast LOL.

5. He looked like he had standards
Wouldn't worry about 3 points, I had 6 at the same time last year and insurance not affected.

Hey, I never claimed it was a better all round solution, just that it would be more effective at preventing speeding! Road safety, as you point out, obviously suffers but it keeps the anti-speeding brigade happy
In reality, people take the easy option so would just drive well below the limit so that they didn't have to check the speedo every 5 seconds. This obviously causes problems with people dawdling about and more congestion and less free flowing traffic, no-one getting anywhere etc.

I suppose you're used to small 'manhoods'. You in front of any man is hardly an incentive to make an effort
And the highlighted area of your picture is not what is in the baby scrawl circle
