Statutory Demand
Hello
Further to a thread a little while ago, the previous owner of my house appeared to have a company registered at the address.
I am now getting people visiting trying to issue statutory demands, to which I am getting quite upset. They go away, and write another "plain envelope" letter to the address.
So a couple of questions: The main one being is there anything that is bad news for me in all of this in terms of them trying to issue an order against me as the current owner of the house? A secondary one, how on earth can I stop this?
Thanks!
Steve.

get on to company house and find out what the company is and let them know it isn't there any more. Send a letter of disassociation to experian and equifax or you may have trouble in the future

I had this for a while at our house - the previous owners moved into rented for a few months but then disappeared. We had three sets of bailiffs visiting - all very friendly and left us alone when I proved we hadn't lived there long enough for it to be us.
We found out the ex-owners address when one of his daughters was nearby - needless to say the bailiffs were very grateful when I re-contacted them with the good news

Follow fastbloke's advice. If bailiffs appear on your doorstep show them photo ID (passport, new drivers licence) and they have to decease with their pesky activities once you have proven your are not the person they are after.
