Question Do you get cash for not using Bupa?

I'm due to get Arthroscopy done on my knee tomorrow (after dislocating it last weekend). I've got Bupa/private heathcare cover but I'm just getting it done under the NHS (no waiting time anyway). Am I right in thinking that if you don't use your private healthcare when you're entitled too that Bupa/other 'reward' you?

I tried to phone Bupa today but they're closed with it being a bank holiday.

Been a member for plenty years now and that's the first I've heard of any 'cash back' deal

Good luck with the knee

Yes they do. It should be £50 per day for a maximum of 35 days. This is dependant on policy.

Ask for claim for cash benefit.

They should give you whats called an NHS cash benefit, varies from #50 - 200 or even 500 on some policies, not sure if thats specific to Bupa. What plan do you have with them?

Thanks guys - I was sure I'd read it somewhere. Not sure what cover I'm on as it's via my wifes work. Got my policy number and will phone them first thing tomorrow.

The business cover line was closed - but the 24hr emergency line was still open.

Getting it done on the NHS as the hospital is nice and close, the operation is fairly minor, out the same day and there was no waiting list/time. Given that it's mostly the same consultants that do the work anyway I didn't think it was worth the extra hastle (different story if I was staying in over night though).

Into hospital only to be told by another consultant that they want to wait another week before surgery as the pain is lessening by itself. Still have very limited movement but we'll see how this week goes.

Talked to Bupa this morning and it's £50 per night if you don't use private care when you could. However, it's only for overnight stays, so you could have the most expensive treatment done under the NHS - but if it doesn't involve an overnight stay then you don't get anything.
