If in Nice you have to ask how much, You really cam't afford to go there, A friend of my sons, his girlfriend and his Dad, were in Monte Carlo, and were in a jewllers, and she asked how much something was and he was so embarrassed, in Monaco, if you have to ask the price you should'nt be buying
Cheers

Beemer,
The old town is lovely to look around. Loads of little alleyways selling all sorts of things. Marche De Fleurs very good as well.
Loads of good restaraunts in Nice especially around the Rue De Massena area.
Take a train trip to Monte, Villefranche or Menton. All lovely places to visit.
Chip.

Beer is relatively expensive in Nice, you should switch over to Pastis and wine
A bottle of Corona, Beck's etc. is 5 euros. There are some places in the old with lots of English people...

Nice ? Nice ! Just watch out you don't get run over - the "new" rule for motorists where they are supposed to stop when pedestrians are on a crossing hasn't yet taken hold down there. Parking around the Port area is hellish so if you see a spot, jump into it as quickly as you can. As for beer, stick to draught 1664 and you'll not pay *that* much over the odds except in the blatently-bloody-obvious-tourist-spots. I'll second the visit to Villefranche.
Some lovely motors on show around Nice...we got overtaken by a black Murcielago with tinted windows. Looked more like a stealth bomber and the sound....fantastic. Heard it long before I saw it in the rear-view.

On the original subject tho,the beer is quite expensive in France but it's like home here if you try out different bars the prices vary.
Remember to take a stick with you to scrape all the dog poo of your shoes as well

Its erm 'Nice' there (no pun intended)
I remember (vaguely) an english bar there called 'Waynes'- not far from the large fountains and square.
Pulled two swedish 19 year olds there ( i was 20 at the time) who were on a university trip.
I seem to remember a street with a load of bars and clubs on, but memory is a bit hazy from that point on (cheap glasses of red wine ). Beer was loads, although it was cheaper than paris.
Definately hop on the train to Monte carlo- its stunning.

its not all that now, it has that old skool run down feel to it like so many towns on the uk south coast, as in hasnt changed much over the years - it has that it needs a lick of paint feel.
Cannes is the new Nice
watch the paragliding in Nice, dodgy lot, almost fell out of the harness, had to hold on tight & hang there when gliding at max height, the equipment was too old

i came back at the end of May this year.
if you walk all the way along the main 'shop' resturant' area.. its all paved for pedestians.... go past the Hotel Solara.. its next to a big bikini shop.. carry on till you come to a VERY nice Pizza Past resturant.. very good value and not in the main area where you get guys trying to sell you wooden horses as you eat!!!
Go to Nagrasco for dinner one day too.. lunch is only about £35 per head..... which i don't think sbad to say where you are eating.. but put a suit on!!! its VERY posh!!
rooms atsra at £500 a night etc!!
well worth going to try it anyway!
if you wanna see my hoilday snaps.. your more than welcme to come round!! lol
