12-Year-Old Armed Robber escapes jail
Here
A 12-year-old armed robber who held a family at gunpoint in their shop has escaped jail.
The boy, who is now 13, has been given a three year supervision order at Wolverhampton Crown Court.
He had burst into a store in West Bromwich last May with a scarf around his face and pulled out a 12-bore shotgun from under his jacket.
The boy demanded cash and cigarettes.
He was kept talking by Jasbir Guliani and his father Sudha until police arrived and disarmed him. It was later discovered the gun was unloaded.
CCTV cameras caught footage of the incident.
Judge Robin Onions said the boy would have gone to jail if he had been older.
The judge added at a previous hearing: "I have never seen someone of his age and of his build with such a fearsome weapon.
"This young man had that gun for some time. He knew what a sawn-off shotgun was. He had time to think about what he was doing."
The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm with intent and attempted robbery.

IIRC it's because it would require twelve lead ***** the diameter of the barrel to weigh one pound. Or something like that.
not hard to work out. (12 gauge bore)
