Thumbs up Duxford Airshow

Hi

We've just booked here to go to the Duxford Airshow in September, the jet noise levels are getting low and we need a top up

I thought I'd put the link up for all the other aviation dudes on here

The runway used to be longer, then they had to shorten it because some joker built the M11 right across one end of it... They even landed a B52 there once. Of course there's no chance it could take off again. Which is the main problem with jets - that and the specialist equipment needed to raise the jet boost levels. This means that generally jets don't land there at all, but simply fly over, display, then p*ss off home again.

And many moons ago I used to do restoration work there.

I don't know, you turn your back for two minutes.... Why don't the fast jets land on the M11

Are you guys going?

Depends what you go there for, we like the noise of the fast jets and I love the Red Arrows so as long as I get a bit of that I'm happy. We went to Waddington, that was fantastic apart from the weather and we looked at going to Fairford but Duxford is only half an hour away from my parents house so we get free weekend accommodation which is a bit of a bonus

I went to Duxford some years ago and saw the last display flight of the Vulcan bomber and also a lightening going straight up, after burners on etc. Amazing noise and vibrations on your chest!

This was in the days when I got hospitality tickets though

By the way, does anyone want to buy a Spitfire (restored, minus engine packed nicely in a shipping crate) for £375,000 ??

Talking

Been to many shows at Duxford, but personally, I prefer the Flying Legends displays. Nothing beats the sound of the old engines spitting smoke out and purring down the runway. Mind you, it's not as good as it used to be!!!

Should be a good display though. My dad's on crowd control, so be nice
