Default eBay question - fraud application

Someone is about to file one against me as the cd head unit I sent doesnt work. It was working when I sent it.

Have tried to claim on the postal insurance but they say it should have been notified at the time it was delivered.

The recipient says there was no damage to the box and is claiming I've conned him!

What should I do?

Offer him his money back if he returns it, you never know they could actually be conning you If you get it back and it's a different unit or if it works then you know something's going on.

No idea. I can't see that they claim it as fraud though for a faulty unit If you never posted it or it turned out to something different I could understand but if you buy something like that from ebay you are taking that risk IMHO. I think it'll just get rejected

if you send something and it doesnt work when they get it then you should except it back and give them the money back.

One wonders if it may be a case of: it was working, he wired it up wrongly, blew it up and now wants you to foot the bill.

I would never have sent it if it didnt work.

OllyK - exactly.

Postal insurance is a waste of time too!

Ive had this.
Asked them to return it- never heard from them again.

Offer a refund if they return it, get them to send it registered and insured, and then claim for damage on the return journey and get the $ for it.

auctions (all auctions) are buyer beware so there is no obligation like there is when direct selling and the sale of goods act
