Where to stay/eat in Liverpool city centre?
Up there for the night on Monday..not been for years. Not too fussed about cost as work are paying but something city centre would be good as I'm going on the train (don't want my lovely car getting nicked by Scallies..only joking!)..

Greg,
You could stay at the Adelphi but the Holday Inn on Hanover street is probably better. There's a new hotel round the back of the gyratory but can't for the life of me remember the name.
I would PM Yoza to see what he says..
Cheers

I went to the Tavern Co on Queens Square a few weeks back. It's a Mexican and the food was top notch. Generous portions and good service.
It's just around the corner from Marriott as that's where the taxi dropped us off.

Im not one for staying at hotels, so I cant really comment.
If the SAS RADISON on Old Hall St is open, that will be your newest and most modern.
As for eating/drinking try the Living Rooms ( www.livingventures.com ) for something to eat and a few beers, ask for Rob he will look after you. Then go next door/downstairs to the Mosquito Bar for a few more, its a must to go down stairs into the Vampire suite.
Not sure what itll be like on a Monday though.
The clientele in the above mentioned bar/restaraunt and club are not the young scally type, they tend to be late 20's to early forties, with a few bob. And if they havent got a few bob, they act as though they have.
Ive spoken to many footballers and soap stars in the Mosquito Bar, they seem to like the place.
Now thats the civil way to have a bite to eat and a beer....
If it was me away on a works 'jollie' I would start at Angels (spend a few dollars) have a few beers and a dance, then move on to Sex 'n' the City, and a few beers and a dance, then to Aphrodities (Pen and wig) have a few beers and a dance, then go down stairs to the VIP lounge have a few more dances and a few more beers, then leave. Whilst staggering back to my B&B I would stop at a mobile hotdog barrow and have a hotdog with plenty of p1ssey onions. I would then throw up, then I would pick a fight with anyone who was about, get filled in and end up in the Royal.
Maybe you would like to PM me and I could show you the " If it was me " rountine, sounds good doesnt it ?

Whilst we have just touched on the subject, has anyone ever found themselves in the A&E of a large inner city hospital at throwing out time.
Last time I was there ( acompanying a friend ) it was like a war zone, slashings, stabbings, shootings and every time there was a serious admittance you were pushed to the back of the queue.
A security guard was chatting to us and he was saying that the Military use the Royal to train their surgeons, as there are so many gun shot wounds to work on. Dont know how true that is though.
There was even a lad there who had a fight in the waiting room with a fizzy drinks machine, he actually started arguing with it first, then began punching and kicking it...... how odd.

You can't go wrong with The Hope Street Hotel. If I were to stay in a hotel in Liverpool (which I wouldn't, because I live there ), I'd stay there.
Been to its restaurant on a number of occasions (the London Carriage Works) and it seems pretty nice
The Holiday Inn at the Albert Dock seems quite nice as well.
Either option is a good'un - nice restaurants and bars within a 2 minute walk of each.
SAS RADISON is ok but is situated in a not as nice area (still ok though ).

The reason was that he had dealt with a stabbing victim one Saturday night who had been attacked by someone weilding a sword. When the victim was asked, "What kind of sword was it?", their answer was, "Ah don't know. It wus just an ordinary sword."
