As title, I need a decent solicitor to handle the sale/purchase of property who isn't going to rip me off more than is absolutely necessary. Also, a qualified surveyor to inspect the new house.

Solicitors tend to drag their heels a lot - You pay them your deposit and they leave it in their accounts for 2 months while it gets them interest and tell you a load a bo!!ocks about your searches "not been done yet".

I plan on doing my own conveyancing next time. You need to keep on at them - if you don't pester them you go to the bottom of the priority pile.

Don't know about Surveyor but I've used Levi & Co on several properties and they've been a breath of fresh air. Most Solicitors you have to chase around since conveyancing goes to the bottom of their pile.

Levi & Co have a Department just for Conveyancing called "Smartmove" so they always give it priority.

I used Levi & Co as well when I moved from Leeds a couple of years ago and they were very good. They used to offer a fixed price service as well.

Thanks Ian & gavnik. Spoke to Alan and his price is comparable so based on your recommendations of his good service I'll probably be using him.
