Default People with drink problems @ work!!!

I've just started a new job and after working for yourself for two years it can be a bit of a shock to the system. Been asked/told what to do and justifying your actions/results.

The guy I'm working for has a really bad drink problem and I mean a real bad problem! He was done for DD a short while ago and admitted to me he was still driving. Needless to say I wasn't impressed and told him so

He calls me during the day to see how things are going and usually by about 11.00 am he's pissed as a fart and slurring like a good 'un.

I'm really finding this off putting and was seriously thinking about finding another job as I'm worried that come the end of the month in the near future I wont get paid as he would of stuck it all down his neck ...

I've come across a few **** heads before but have never been in a situation like this one before and I'm finding it a bit off putting. I like a drink myself like the next person but have seriously cut down as I hated having a beer gut and feeling like **** the next day......

I think its my place to voice my thoughts to him as I dont want to be fecked about with payment ...what would you do?

Hello

Why do you feel it's your place to voice your thoughts? You are paid to do your work, not express your personal opinions.

Not that I'm saying I wouldn't feel the same way as you, but people are generally not appreciative of your comments.

Steve.

start drinking heavily, you may get a promotion, if not, at the very least you will understand your boss.

Is this guy the MD? If so, is it a small-ish organisation?

I'm assuming from your comments that he is directly responsible for delegating work to you and for paying your salary. If not, is there anyone else in the company that you can discuss your concerns with? HR department etc?

Tell the bloke - you could be nipping any future problems in bud now before they get out of hand. Not always easy I know confronting your boss, but he might start thinking he can **** you about if you don't say anything now.

Ive been brought up in a community that states catergorically that you should never 'grass' on anyone.

But I would have no problems grassing up a persistant drink driver, warn him, then if he carries on blow him up.

I take it he is your superior?

Does he have authority over anyone else?

Does he have an immediate superior?

If the answers are yes, no, yes then shop him for driving while banned - better still get it so the police catch him when if he does it over the limit. There is no remorse with DD, the instant promotion you get will be a bonus.

If, however he is the MD then bite the bullet and seek other employment, when finacially you are OK and have another job to go to, shop him.

However if he is DD now then your moral conciense may make you shop him and sod the money.....
