Default sky digital dead

has anyone elses sky digital stopped working ?

I was just watching sky1 and it lost signal ? I looked in the setup, and my signal strength is 100% but the signal quality is about 1% usualy about 80%

there are currently storms in my area, but it is usualy perfect though rain and snow, as im using a 60cm dish rather then the small dish ?

how can i have 100% signal strength with no signal quality ?

has anybody else's stopped working ?

I am in bedfordshire

Just in case, unplug the box for a minute or so, and power it up again.
Sometimes works on my digibox.....

You can also sometimes get static on the cable - try earthing it with your finger while touching earth with your other finger...

tried powering it off, and managed to get a signal for a couple of seconds it it broke up and died.

I just tried shorting the conductor to ground, didnt fancy touching anything connected to an aerial with all the lightening

guess i will have to wait and see if it improves. must be some big rain clouds blocking the signal ?

Try getting another LNB on the dish it's a easy jobto replace it's only held onto the bracket by a screw underneath, unscrew the F plug and replace in reverse order. They only cost summin like £15-

Before u do that try doing a forced download to the box. ie Unplug from the wall find the button on the front of th reciever that says Backup, hold that button in then get someone else to plug it back in the mains whilst u still hold the backup button, keep on holding it untill all the lights on the front of the reciever come on and you'll get a message on the screen saying downloading new software do not touch box for 15 minutes etc.......Sometimes takes longer! This is a good fix for a lot of digi boxes that do weird things and is a bit of a trade secret sort of thing so shhhhhhh u never heard it from me!

If it truly fcuked, phone them up and say you want an engineer to come out and fix it, if they try and charge you a fee..... say you want to cancel your subscription.

when i tried this i was put thro' to a manager and he arranged for it to be mended for free, to keep my custom.

the engineer replaced the dish, lnb and the digibox.

there were quite a few big storms going around today that were impacting upon the ability of broadcasters to uplink their signals to the satellite. In general these breaks in service were of fairly short duration, about 10 minutes, so if your problem lasted longer than this then it probably wasn't the cause.

however, some satellite RXer boxes tend to lock up, as others have said, during power cuts or unexpected loss of signal. Might be worth pulling the power cord at the back of your box to see if that helps.
