Saw this for sale in Argos and wondered if you could get away with recording from one to the other!
Does anybody know?

Most DVD's aren't copy protected. The license to use Macrovision is prohibitively expensive on all but the most valuable titles, so studios seldom bother. This means if you already have a DVD player and a VCR you can already copy DVD's to tape. If they are protected then invest in one of these . It's not failed on one yet for me, and people I do copies for say they're much better quality than VHS pre-recorded tapes. I mainly use it for films I'm not too bothered about. Rent 'em, tape 'em, eventually tape over them. Means I get really very good quality for £2 rental on films I wouldn't buy anyway. A bit pricy, but I got mine with my DVD player so it was half price
