anyone do pilates?
i have been having back problems off and on for about 6 years now (sciatica type symptoms).
so far what i have found is that if i go to a GP they prescribe anti inflamatory drugs, but i stopped taking these as they had side effects that i didn't like. since then i have been to several different osteopaths, all managed to ease the pain but it always ends up coming back after a few months.
a while ago a friend of the missus (who's a pilates teacher) came around and got me to do a few exersizes that seemed to help. unfortunately she then moved abroad. has anyone else found that this sort of thing can help chronic type back problems?

yeah my sister strained her back a few years ago and has had tablets, and acupuncture, etc.
Last year she tried pilates and found that it worked wonders.
She is still careful with her back, but no problems again so far this year so here's hoping.............

I actually work for a company who supplies sports & fitness equipment for pilates, Yoga etc etc.
If you are going to take up pilates, make sure you have a FULLY qualified instructor.
Doing Pliates the right way can be very benificial to you - espcially for back, neck & core.
If however your instructor is not showing you the correct method, you can do more damage than good. Be very carefull.
01494 769 222 ask for Jason. When you get through to me say you are from scoobynet & i'll send you a trade pricelist.

there are bloody hundereds. . . .
A good place to start would be by ringing "Body Controll Pliates" in london on 0207 379 3734
I think the instructors need to be members of the "Pilates instute" but don't hold me to that.

sorry hers was a really bad case mind you, she lost feeling in some of her toes, could not sit down for long periods of time, couldnt sleep because of the pain. Was an extreme case.

what have they given you? i think it was diclofenac (or something like that) that i was prescribed. the pain went away, but after about a week of taking it i woke up one morning thinking i was going mental. couldn't work out wtf was going on until i thought of reading the leaflet that came with the drugs - list of side effects as long as your arm! so be careful...
i'll let you know if i get sorted.
