He can do what he likes.

That's nothing. I change the channel on my TV when I see people on it that I find offensive or annoying purely by their behaviour or appearance. I'm such a bigot!

We don't even need a poll. It's his house he chooses who comes into it.

Game over.

The point is, if I post this again in 4 months, everyone would be outraged at the racism. The voting is only this way because of the other poll.

I'll set a reminder in 4 months to repost

LOL, but HOLD ON!!!

Does anybody actually know for a FACT if this statement, which is at the crux of the discussions, is actually true or not??!

If it IS, then how has this become newsworthy?! Surely everybody would just quote the above at the "persecuted", and move on, no??

The fact that it HAS made headlines, must mean that someone, somewhere, DOESN'T think the statement is true!

If the chap in Scotland hadn't justified his decision to refuse the gays a double bed, then fine, nobody could accuse him of anything. But he DID, leaving him open to the charge of discrimination. The question is - can the owner of a small business discriminate like this and get away with it? Whether it's HIS HOUSE ( ) or not - he's still trading with the public, no??

Until we know for sure, what's the point trading pure opinions rather than facts?

Aha - the final sentence says it all then - thanks imlach.

Ok, he was within the law - fair enough.

So why can't employers tell gays to naff off similarly??

The SDA states:

"With a few exceptions, it is unlawful to discriminate directly or indirectly on grounds of sex in the provision of goods, facilities or services to the public, or a section of the public or in the disposal or management of premises."

Your boss is entitled to tell you to 'naff off' (not great management, but his/her choice I guess ), but if he said 'naff off - you're gay' then you fall foul of the SDA and get him and the company sued. Just words, but they have a lot of significance.

Oh i'm SO confused!!!

Didn't the B&B bloke call them "sexual deviants", or "abnormal" or something?

Surely under the criteria you've listed, he's GUILTY??!!!

Could be who knows? - Perhaps that was paper talk? Technically I guess he could be taken to court if he actually said that.
