Anyone own their own business ?
If you own your own business i would be very greatful if you could PM me with a few pointers and answers / advice to the following please :-
At present I work for a small firm, currently struggling to break even each month due to large overheads.
These overheads are caused due to research and development costs of a new tool that is not yet launched, therefore its bleeding company profits and not bringing any money back in.
If i was to buy the company, scrap this new tool idea and continue with everyday business and maybe loose 1 member of staff, the company can very easily make a nice comfortable profit and continue with great business, i know this as i've gone through the accounts etc etc.
Im meeting with the current owner to put my proposal towards him and i believe he is keen to sell.
Where do i start and whats the best way to go about this ?
Any advice is most welcomed, would prefer it though via PM.
Thanks in advance
Marc.

I would question the longer term of the company without this new tool? A company needs to move forward to survive nowadays, if you buy a company you have to consider 5 , 10 , 25 years down the line, not just ticking over for a few years in profit.
Also, how will the staff who've spent ages working on this new tool feel about you buying the ranch and canning their work?
Just a couple thoughts from someone who was going to do the same but then set up my own ranch instead for those 2 reasons
