Which bank?

Which bank?
I'm planning on opening a new joint bank account with my g/f. Which one should we choose? It's basically for paying household bills, etc. Must be able to be managed online, and ideally pay reasonable interest on any cash left in the account. Who's worth considering and who shouldn't we touch with a bargepole?

cahoot is one of the best for interest paid on current account. i have an onlie account with them and it works fine. plus you can set up a savings a/c and transfer any surpluses there, for a slightly higher interest rate. my personal bank is with barclays, though. i fiind their on-line banking a bit more user friendly, and there is a branch near my work which is handy for paying things in. they pay b*gger all interest, though,

Another vote for cahoot, decent interest on my current account, good online management system, and the best customer service of any company Ive ever dealt with, have had to contact them with queries on 3 seperate matters now and the phone is answered quickly and e-mails replied to within 15 minutes (one at 10pm on a Sunday night)

If you have a mortage also why not look at a one account from RBS, or cahoot or smile are good. I would side with Cahoot as i have one (also have a smile and a One account), and all told Cahoot is about the best, also cahoot have a facility to gain a flexible loan as part of your account at something around 5%, so you can combine the 2, just a thought

I have been with Citibank for over 5 years and the service is faultless. They have had Internet banking since I started with them, and they have never charged for using any cash machine in all that time - a lot of the others were charging at the time. I remember looking into it at the time, and wondering why everyone wasn't with them! They have 24 hour phone banking too.

I'm with the Abbey, their online banking is fine, and when things go pear-shaped as they did for me a few years back (someone compromised my card number to the tune of over £3,000) they repaid me promptly and were very efficient in doing so.

FD for me are head and shoulders in terms of customer service above everyone else. Forget the high street, service is equally bad amongst all the big players, I was with smile for a little while and they were atrocious! I had to complain to the banking ombudsman about them.
