No way of telling from the pictures alone but I would hazard a guess that you would have us believe it is something like potassium nitrate at the bottom and powdered magnesium/aluminium at the top?

Or a set of heated flannels from the indian restaurant?

Cocaine and Resin?

potassium nitrate!

9 out of 10 cuz u were unsure of the metal, you should know that i would choose the more volatile of the two substances!

Well I made a casing out of a pop bottle top and washers and nuts etc.
Tightened the nuts so it's basically air tight!

Should make a bit of a boom eh?

Why am I going to get a knock at the door?

If it's illegal then the people supplying it wouldn't say nothing would they!

Not with that casing.... practically zero chance of shrapnel. Try a length of scaffold sealed with two end plates and a length of threaded bar!

It's not illegal to purchase the ingredients, only to make the mixtures. FYI.

So you do rekon a piece of metal (nuts bolts and washers) thats weighs 50 grams doesn't cause a potential hazzard when it decides to take off at warp speed?

Anyway, time to get my scales out!

Question

Have you ever done the potassium chlorate/sugar mix, and then dripped conc. sulphuric acid onto it?

Fairly scary, but good fireworks effect.
Apparently it produces chlorine dioxide as part of the reaction and that's very unstable.:

Have you noticed that when Audi-Boy writes the chemical formula for potassium nitrate it looks just like "****".

hmmmm not to sure on your choice of casing materials, plastic and metal..... oh well at least is small..... how well/fast does the mix burn?
oh and mixing small quantities for experimental purposes is not technically illegal, but putting it to any use is.

oh and one of those disclaimer things.....

me and my brother nearly blew ourselves up years ago by ******* about with gunpowder, play with chemicals by all means, do it in the garage though, not in the house

we were building an uber bomb to annoy the bloke over the road as we had a mischevios vendetta at the time.....50 air bombs "cut" into the grey, black and brown powders, the brown was put to one side on a sheet of paper for another day, the grey powder out of the cardboard projectiles, and the black powder were being experimented on to find the best mix ratio.

We had left the brown stuff a bit too close to the metal toolbox "test facility" and the rest was history: a little fireball from the experiment lit the pile of brown on the floor, the resulting flash lit everything else in the area including all the black and grey, also some cardboard projectiles that had not been split yet - it was like a scene from an Arnie film, all in my bedroom, and over in about 30 seconds - I will never forget the look on my mum&dads face when the smoke eventually cleared

Not bad A-B! Try adding some different metal salts to get some colours in the flame!

In fact sod the colours... lets move straight onto the bangs!!!
