Default Advice buying a car

Hello

I must shamefully admit that at 35 I have never bought a second-hand car.

As money is interesting at the moment, and my wife just wrote off her car, I now have the pleasure of buying a car for £2-3K for her, and I am entering the murky world of classified ads.

Any advice? Is it worth getting such a low value car checked by anyone? Can I do the HPI thing online somewhere?

Thank you for any help,

Steve.

Always bought my cars without doing HPI check, if I was unsure on something or its the type of car u could imagine having credit on it then its always worth checking, ANY doubt at all get it checked, the autotrader web site is a good place to start for advice (the magazine is very useful in the opening pages too) only time Ive ever done an HPI check was when I bought the scooby, witht he car costing a fair whack is was an amount I wasnt prepared to take a risk with... 2-3k is still a decent chunk of money though

Hello

Thank you for your reply. I'll go off and have a look at that site.
