So What Was That About?
Got a nice little order for 10 Big Venetian Blinds from a company based at the Old Naval Hospital here in Plymouth. Big of a tricky job in parts but I started when the staff all left at 6 O'clock leaving me, except for the odd police patrol all alone. I decided to work until I'd finished the job. £400 for a days work. That'll do nicely...
Anyway at about 10 o'clock I'm on my 5th blind. Quite tricky, the size isn't quite right and the recess is quite tight but I think I'll work it in...
I hear a laugh.
? I look around. It blowing quite a gale outside, I'm on the 1st floor and from the window I can see the trees bending in the wind.
But I'm all alone. Who could have laughed? I wished I'd brought a radio. Something to listen to.Oh well, Lets get on....
11 o'clock and time for a ****. I walk down a narrow coriddor and enter the men toilets. It's one of those old tiled jobs. Nice though, they done it up quite well considering it's age.
I hear another laugh. Oh ffs. I force the **** out of myself. Almost ejaculate it. "What the fuc are you doing?" I say out loud. I don't know if I'm talking to myself or...someone else. My eyes start to water and even though I'm sweating, the back of my kneck feels very cold. "Stop being a *****" I say and wipe a tear from my eye. I'm not crying, but all the same my eyes water...
I get back to the job. 3 more blinds to do. No problem. I start to gain a little self control, but all the same, do not look at the reflection in the window. I'm afraid of what I may see...
12:30 and I'm finished. I've got to go. For a moment I consider leaving all my tools and ladders behind. I want to get out of here. I don't believe in ghosts or spirits or any of that crap but as God is my witness I feel haunted. For the first time I understand what that word means. Haunted. I carry my tools to the lift. My back feels so cold. I Press the button and wait. The lift doors open. It looks like a box. No it looks like a coffin. No way am I getting in there, no way. I carry my tools all the way down the stairs. And wouldn't you know it, the door makes a creaking noise like any hammer house of horror film would be proud of. I tell myself to shut the fuc up but it doesn't sound like me.... I walk down the corridor. Again avoiding the reflections of the windows because if I look I'll see them. I know this now, and if I see them they'll get me. So...Don't look.
I somehow finish loading up the van. All I have to do is go back for the empty boxes. No 'kin way. In all the horror movies, 'that' is when they get you. I'm not going. I look behind me. Nothing there. I walk round to the passenger seat of my van. Nobody there. Tears are now flooding down my eyes. I just want to go home. I know I've imagined all this but I just want to go home.
At this point I'd usually look at the windows, see how the blinds look. But I know that someone is looking at me from one of those windows. Laughing.
If I see them I'll go mad. Simple as really.
I pass the police checkpoint. He waves. I want to stop and ask him if there have been any strange happenings reported about the building. But then...Think better of it. It's late anyway and hey what a dick I've been.
I go home.

Blimey I know that feeling as well...and I thought it was just me that had the eye-watery thing!
Well done for staying...go and get the empty boxes when everyone else is there Oh, and ask about the strange happenings - you have to let us all know now!

That was some experience last night. I arrived back home around 2:30am. Rachel was asleep, so couldn't talk to her about it. Had to do something with 'it' so I recounted it all here as best I could. I don't believe in anything spiritual or anything like that so the only logical conclusion for me is the obvious one. Paranoia.
All the same, I did hear those laughs and did 'feel' that something was there. I know it sounds ridiculous but I was honestly petrified. One thing I didn't mention is that once in the van I locked the doors. Never done that before. I'm trying to break it down rationally but I'm struggling. On one hand I must have imagined the whole thing on the other...I just don't know.

Hello
The laugh is probably just the wind to be honest. Air being twisted through various gaps in an empty warehouse makes strange noises.
It would probably have freaked me as well though ...
Steve.

Oh LoL this gets quite funny now, called the company this afternoon and apologised about leaving the boxes.
"What boxes?"
"The ones I left in the main office",
"No boxes there"
"Oh I guess someone must have chucked them away for me"
"Do you mean the two by the lift?"
"No I left them in the office"
"Oh well don't worry about it. The blinds look great btw thanks".
I said goodbye.
Now, I didn't leave the boxes by the lift. I didn't. It's perfectly rational to believe that someone in the office put them there for disposal later.
But....I dunno.

You have to call them back and ask about 'Strange goings on' Not for your sake ...... For ours now !
Im not just saying it, but i would love to have experianced what you did.... I might have felt the same way you did after the event. But i would love to be given the chance. Like you i 'dont' belive .... But im always open to possibilitys
Now call them back and find out the full story on the place.

"No we don't know how it happened, it just won't budge, can you come back tonight?"
"Hello? Hello? Mr Delvard? Hello are you still there?"
Next time I speak to them I'll try, as casually as I can, to ask if the building has any history....

Hi Andrew, saw this and being local it got me thinking.
If it's the old Royal naval hospital in Stonehouse you were at,
then the copy and paste below from a website may interest you
It looks as if some "long term" patients may still be hanging around.
Seamen who succumbed to their wounds were buried at the hospital from 1824 onwards. The vicar of St Andrew's Church held the right to officiate but he usually deputed the Chaplain of the Hospital to act on his behalf. The last general burial took place on May 4th 1897 but in October 1912 the wife of Staff Captain Moore was allowed to be buried with her husband. In 1956 the burial ground was acquired by the adjacent St Dunstan's Abbey School fir use as a playing field and the gravestones were taken down and arranged around the boundary wall.

Very interesting, all of it.
