Wedding Help Abroad (New Zealand)... PLEASE !
Don't need talked out of it guys...before you all start
Been passed from pillar to post by the good old Scottish Local Authorities and no-one can confirm if I need a Certificate of No Impediment or not, prior to marrying in NZ.
Question 1
Do I need a Certificate of No Impediment ?
Notice of Intended Marriage
The place in New Zealand where we are to marry seem to think that all we need is the above form...
It just asks you to confirm that there is no reason why you can't marry and the local Registrars (about as much help as Denmark and Sweden were to Italy last night ) don't think I need one for New Zealand but they can't confirm
Question 2
If I only need sign the Notice of Intended Marriage (above) then it says it has to be witnessed by a Commonwealth Representative........
Does anyone exactly who that can be...? Policeman, Justice of the Peace, GP, Lawyer or Auntie's cat
Don't really want to fly over there and find out that I should of filled in form x as I ain't keen on flying at the best of times
Anyone done this....?
Thanks in advance

Seems ridiculous no-one in the relevant authority in Scotland can answer you. After all, plenty of people get married abroad these days....
Perhaps contact the NZ consulate (is there one in Edinburgh?) or the NZ embassy (presumably in London?). They could give you the view from the other side.

I know its not NZ, but I got married in The Netherlands a few years back and they required a certificate of no impediment and a copy of my birth certificate to be signed by a public official and then legalised by the FCO office in London.
