Default Silverstone 2004- anyone coming to the Grand Prix

Getting close now, so I'm getting excited not particularly about the grand prix itself, just having a boys weekend

anyone else going?

we're camping at Whittlebury as usual

yep
finish work at club in cardiff at 3am- driving straight there.... will probably be asleep by the time the gp starts lol
Not exactly happy about having my records parked in my car boot all day there (will prpbably melt if its sunny lol)- but its either that or dont go...

Went every year from 1986- 1995. Havent been since then, so should be fun, although no paddock pass this yr unfortunately..

You might want to stick em on the back seat with a white sheet over them and leave the windows open a crack. Should be slightly cooler that in a closed boot and the sheet should protect them from prying eyes.

Melted vinyl ain't fun...

Cool

Also there (on and off) from Friday to Sunday. Got a party of 6 going - easier for me though as I live in Northamptonshire

Can't wait, but at least it is getting closer.

Whittlebury Park is best for camping if you can get on- out usual pitch is about 100 yards from the Becketts grandstand.

otherwise you'll be limited to the sites on the other side, but you really could do with booking as they get busy.

the first few years we camped we ended up about three miles away.

Mine arrived this morning

Got general (bronze) walkabout tickets for the Sunday. Any idea where the best place is to catch the action?

Also, anyone got any idea what the supporting events are? Looked around the web (including the silverstone site), and can't find any details at all...

If you can blag your way in to the infield the inside of copse is the place to be- nice grassy knoll.

Other wise, if you're on the outside, try maggots / becketts. the Porsche cup cars are particularly spectacular through the sweepers.

Luffield, priory, bridge and pitstraight get very busy, maybe best to avoid unless you have grandstands.

I don't know the other side of the circuit very well but i'm sure someone can advise you.

We've tried to find out, the woman on the phone at Silverstone said details would be published on the website when they have them and muttered something about F3 and F3000. I know the Touring Cars won't now be there but the Porsche Michelin Supercup will be

I haven't seen the touring cars at the GP for many years now.

There is usually carrera cup, possibly clio cup, and a whole load of historic and single seater races.

The Touring Cars were going to be there in a non championship race but some of the teams pulled out. I've checked on the F3 website and can't find anything to suggest they'll be there but the F3000 and Porsches will be

Only 3 weeks to go and they don't know what races they're going to have . I'm sure it'll be good whatever it is though....

What time do you reckon I should aim to arrive on Sunday morning to get a good spot, (preferably one with a big tv screen in view)?

The tickets didn't mention what time the circuit opens (although I notice the park and ride starts at 4am - I've got a carpark pass though so I don't need to use that )

si97 - I will be in the Marshalls campsite from Thursday night also.

What sort of marshalling are you doing?

Anyone know if the Maserati's are racing again this year?
