if we're being pedantic then Ronin is one of the top ones although u can still be ultra picky about realism but compared with many BS it is top notch i luv it, bullit is also good suppose it depends how much u set boundaries i mean matrix has sum OTT sheet in it......

The original version of 'Gone in 60 seconds'.

The final car chase lasts for about half the film - 40 minutes and 93 cars trashed.

That chase is f**kin sweet

but french connection must be the best.
( a little known fact the film producers couldn't get permission to film the car chase so they just went ahead and did it anyway)

its why its so realistic

Wasn't Ronin filmed with RHD cars, that had been "modified" to make the front seat passengers look like they were driving LHD French cars?

I keep meaning to watch Ronin again.... I don't know why (maybe too much beer ) but last time I watched it (yrs ago) I remember thinking that the E34 M5 featured was a fake, but I can't remember my reasons behind it!

Anyone notice anything wrong with the M5?.... save me watching it again!

AFAIK, thats how most (if not all) chase scenes are filmed.

James Bond Vanquish Vs Jag was anyway!

Much more reliable than teaching actors how to drive (properly!)

Taxi ("take me to the airport..." ) & Taxi 2 (3 evo's Vs mental 406)
Ronin (another 406?)
Blues Brothers
Matrix Reloaded - although bike chase better than cars
Original Gone in 60 seconds.
Smokey & The Bandit (Cheesy but good fun)

In Ronin, the drivers sat in the boot and the actors had wooden blocks under pedals to stop them braking. Also the CGI tyre smoke was laughable!

For me it's Taxi (haven't seen the Taxi2) for the sheer improbability of a car chase featuring a 406 taxi and 2 Merc E Classes like my father used to drive. It's all a bit easy if you're Will Smith in a 575 Maranello but a French pizza delivery rider in a white 406 saloon is just so surreal it's brilliant! And the driving! Whoa!

Also, it features the French Who's Who of racing/rally drivers in the cast of stunt drivers - Jean Ragnotti, Phillipe Alliot, Jean Claude Aundruet spring to mind so the scenes should be pretty much what actually happened and not "Hollywooded" too much.

Dapster, taxi 2 is better than the first.

2 traffic cops -
"What was that?"
"206"
"No - it looked like a 406"
"No - I meant 206 mph..."

Which was the Cannonball run with Catherine Bach (Daisy Duke) in the white Countach (which became a red one) at the start? The sound was probably dubbed over the top, but it was fantastic!
