Default Need some new music advice

Have got in a bit of a rut recently music wise, keep revisting old ground so could do with some ideas of decent new stuff, listened to the following albums last week,

Scissor Sisters, interesting, high camp and cheerful but not my cup of tea, no **** on the radio struck a chord though !

Snow Patrol, ok-ish,might be a grower, bit dull

Cooper Temple Clause, really liked this, cant remember which album it was though.

Need some ideas, and has anybody got a spare Ipod !

Don't **** about. Listen to Ram by Paul MacCartney (and Red Rose Speedway) and the whole Donald Fagan catalogue.

The Killers and Hope of the States' debut albums were out this week and both well worth a listen. Stellastarr*, Her Space Holiday, Belle & Sebastian, Easyworld, Hot Hot Heat, Super Furry Animals, British Sea Power and The Zutons have all released very good (IMHO) albums in the past year or so too.

Paul McCartney??? You'd have to beat me over the head with a wooden leg to get me to listen to him.

Paul McCartney?....why didn't you suggest the best of John Denver ( VERY short album ), and Jimmy Shands accordian classics while you were at it?
I reckon John Denvers contribution to humanity was learning to fly.

Talking

Bah! Ya philistines!!

That was his best period too. After the Beatles but before Wings. I bet you've never heard either album.

<there's just no telling some people>

BB - Fagan is brilliant. So much detail in his songs.

Look out for significantly more cool new 'spice girls/all saints' with an R&B twist... They are called The 411 - they are going to be H U G E.

Also have a look at any Uk band named 'The' something - they will invariably have bad hair, but good music!

Roselyn Sanchez (OMG gorgeous) and Thalia are two Latinas to watch, but not bet on...

Snow Patrol definately a grower, sounds dull on first listen but I think they're still to make their best music, The Killers are great, The Walkmen are brilliant (I thought they were British, have a kind of Joy Division type sound to them but they're Yanks), Fu Manchu are a good California rock band.

I think my problem is, having kids, you cant listen to music when they are around as they distract you and you cant list when they are in bed cos you need to be quiet, have taken to listening at work with headphones which isnt ideal as it custs you off, it does however make me do more work as there is less distraction.

Might buy the new Gomez one but tbh wasnt keen on 'In our Gun', loved liquid skin and Bring it on though.

Even the wife buys more new Cd's than me, but there is only so much Dido you can listen to without actually becoming a woman, a whinging one at that.

I get my MP3's every week upto 10 albums a disc, so bought a MP3 player for the car and never have a dull moment. When its played to death I write another and start again. I have a glove box full. Everything from Sax Moods to This is a Modern World to Power Ballards 2. My choice will be different (its my age)
