Default Indicators (car / bike) – WHY?

It is not a legal requirement to use them.

You cannot argue that you pulled out onto the road as the driver coming towards you was indicating left, therefore you had space to join the road but they did not turn left and you crashed.

They are optional extras on BMWs and Mercs which most owners cannot afford the bulbs so do not have them.

So, what’s the point?

It does make me wonder if there is any point these days. As at busy junctions and roundabouts you see people indicating into that road or off the island as the person waiting to pull out just stays there thinking "ooh there's a car...can't pull out" Even though the car is turning off

There's an island at the bottom of the main road where I live that backs up by 20 to 30 cars purely due to this. I get to pull out and pull away immediately or only wait 5 seconds at the most, and I wonder why other cars in front take 30 seconds to pull out!

Basing the theroy on the practice that everyone ignores them when they are being used, nobody should bother using them

Strange how I find Subaru, Jaguar, Vauxhall, Ford, Land Rover, Scania, Volvo, Rover, Audi, Peugeot, Renault, Citreon and Volkswagen drivers also are prone to not using indicators

Also I find even more bizare in a country like Spain, where driving standards are said to be worse than the UK - you find the majority of drivers actually use indicators correctly when going round roundabouts (except for British tourists). Odd that!!

Pulled the side repeaters off my Pug the other day to check the bulbs and found that there aren't any!! Not even any wires to connect any bulbs - odd.

Maybe everyone else is too lazy, but I use them for their primary purpose, COMMUNICATION - if I indicate I'm turning right, at least most other people should be prepared for it, and it might stop some impatient **** trying to shoot past me at that point.

I tend to use them if there are cars behind me/coming towards me, or in close proximity.

I love it when you indicate left to show you are pulling up at the side of the road, and the dumbarse behind you does not notice, hardly notices you are braking and stops so close behind you they have to reverse to pull round, and then give you dirty looks and hand gestures.

At first I assumed my bulb had blown, but on closer inspection the british motoring public are generally clueless idiots, who are a danger to themselves and everyone else.
