Default MPs - oh dear, oh dear

Regarding the recent security breaches at the House of Commons, see this article...

http://thescotsman.scotsman.com/index.cfm?id=589272004

..in which Tony Banks is quoted as saying (regarding security at the entrance to the Commons) :

"At least one Labour MP has admitted bypassing Commons security by telling the police not to search his guests.

"It does happen. I have done it myself," Tony Banks, the Labour MP for East Ham, told The Scotsman, adding that he takes "complete personal responsibility" for his guests’ conduct inside the palace, and likening the situation to signing a friend into a private members’ club.

"The police are put in an impossible position" when MPs order them not to follow security rules on searches, Mr Banks admitted. "But you can’t have members of parliament having their orders countermanded by someone who isn’t elected."

WTF!!! What a ridiculously pompous thing to say - we can't be told what to do by someone who isn't elected!!!
