Default Insurance Claim update - Engineers Rpt.

Zurich finally got back to me to arrange an engineers inspection of my car - but I have changed over my insurance and should really get the car scrapped.

What can I do? I have nowhere to store the car off road!

Also... They are really cheeky bugg*rs! I quoted Rule 161 of the highway code:

When reaching the roundabout you should:
1. give priority to traffic approaching from your right, unless directed otherwise by signs, road markings or traffic lights
2. check whether road markings allow you to enter the roundabout without giving way. If so, proceed, but still look to the right before joining
3. watch out for vehicles already on the roundabout; be aware they may not be signalling correctly or at all
4. look forward before moving off to make sure traffic in front has moved off.

The key point being 3 - I was on the roundabout when she crashed into the rear quarter of my car!! They said "The section you have referred to relates to traffic that is ahead of you waiting to enter the roundabout"

Cheeky! I was on the roundabout going quite slowly (car had just been started) and she flew on to it, not even giving way to the guy to her right!!

eh? Section 3 quite clearly states traffic ON roundabout. Section 4 would include those waiting in front of you and those queued on r'about.

I suppose now's not a good time to say I work for Zurich

Never mind MattW - they are making a good job of not paying out, saving them money, making sure you are still in a job!

I'm sure the 'Technical claims advisor' is an idiot though

Paul - yep, its the bluebird. I can't even drive it now - its been sat on the road since 9th april. I'm paying tax/ins for nothing, and as I say, I'm swapping over the ins onto my new fiat 126

AFAIK, you can't keep an uninsured car on the road, so it has to go. I dont want any trouble from the police considering my career aspirations

What should I do?

is it the suspension upright that's bent? Surely that's an easy fix.

Nice photos btw

Paul, its the piece of metal between the suspension strut and the disc.

However, the strut should also be replaced. Which means both should be replaced.

The cost all adds up

The car is worth max £200, but the cost of the repair to the bodykit, arch and sus will be more than that. I'm going for £500 to replace - as I would need to source the full bodykit, which was a factory fit (and rare!) Also, the engine in the car is great - only about 90k on the clock etc.
