Anyone in/near Bristol?
Just been accepted for a Masters course at Bristol Uni but ive never actually been to Bristol. Just going on what ive heard its a good place for students (correct me if im wrong). If I do accept, what sort of rent will I be paying in a nice area close to the Uni? How is it for night life and is the drink cheap? Any comment from ppl who been to Bristol Uni appreciated.

Clifton Village. That's the place for *proper* University students. You'll love it. Tons of pubs great community atmosphere (lots of girls). Georgian surroundings, close to the suspension bridge.
Expensive to rent though (or buy), but the best place in Bristol by far.

Got several friends in Bristol and go there for weekends quite often throughout the year.
You'll love it, loads of great bars, pubs, clubs, eateries, etc. Always have a good time when we go out on the town. It's not that cheap but I'm sure the students will know some places for those on a budget (JD Whetherspoons ).
Not sure where the best areas to live are. Clifton is very nice but unfortunately I would suspect it to be well out of the price range of a student. The areas to avoid are St. Pauls and Knowle West (I think), bit rough.

Its a great place but watch out for the "Hooray Henry" Oxbridge rejects!
Clifton/Cotham/Redland good but pricey. Montpelier/St Werburghs also good and a bit more cosmopolitan, Totterdown, Windmill Hill OK too. Some Streets in St Pauls now gentrified, but others definitely avoid - Cambell St/Grosvenor Rd especially

My daughter's been offered a place there in September (Psychology). So I have been with her twice to have a good look around. We both really liked the town and uni and I have spoken to a lot of other people who give it the thumbs up. The uni website has quite a bit on the town and accomodation etc. See you in the pub

You might want to ask on www.scoobyzone.co.uk which is where a lot of the Bristol area scoob owners hang out.
