Retro BBC childrens tv
So, while in conversation with eClaire, she didn't remember the following :
http://www.clangers.co.uk/
or :
http://www.smallfilms.co.uk/ivor/
How many others don't? This was the era when children's tv was non-violent & fun! Saying that (especially with the Clangers), I suspect the creators of these programmes HAD to be on some kind of funny drugs at the time
Great stuff!

I've just bought the complete works of Roobarb & Custard on DVD, having a 2yo niece has it's advantages
Ps Back to the original topic, I was glued to the TV when Ivor was on, Jones the Steam was my hero (I was only 4 or 5 at the time)

Hello
There was some drugged up series that I can't quite remember the name of: "BarbaPapa" or something? Lots of coloured blobs talking?
Found it!
And my favourite: Hong Kong Phooey
Steve.

Seem to remember them floating down the Thames sometimes, or was that just my imagination?

My fave was Bod.
I was not impressed at the theme tune being used on a tv ad. recently.
Rhubarb is a close second.
Wasn't the clangers repeated up until the early 90's?

WHAT! she did not recall Ivor or the Clangers? that is grounds for being expelled from muppets!
How about:
Chorlton and the Wheelers (have this on vhs somewhere)
Jamie and the magic torch (got an mp3/wav of the theme song somewhere)
The Flumps
Bod
Camberwick Green/Chigley/Trumpton (and who remembers the spitting image pish take in the late 80's)
Clangers - This has special relevance to a certain bunch of south east scooby owners
Ivor the Engine
Bagpuss (he was a saggy old cloth cat)
Mr Benn (and yes, I still do have the shopkeeper t-shirt )
Dangermouse
Count Duckula
Willo the Wisp (had it on DVD, magic it was)
And there must be many many more. I'd peek at tvcream.org if you want some serious nostalgia, and get into HMV to pick them up on DVD.
"Here is the clock, the Trumpton clock. Telling the time steadily, sensibly, never too quickly, never too slowly. Telling the time for Trumpton."
Pugh, Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble, Grubb.
Brian Cant - We salute you!

One more thing this little .wav will bring back many memories for some.
Oooh, and I forgot other things such as:
Hong Kong Phoey (I have some CD somewhere of choons from the toons, loads of class tracks on it!)
Fraggle Rock
The Magic Roundabout (those who know me rather well will know the rather macarbe significance this little programme has for me, and my brother)
No73
Anything by Tony Hart
the Schmoo
The Hair Bear Bunch
The Banana Splits
Sesame Street (gotta be on there, esp if you're a muppet!)
Button Moon
The Moomins (damn those scandanavian types they are waaaay too odd!)
Christ, I'm in severe retro mode, don't think any work is going to be done today, Am now going to look for classic TV ads too. Think I need to "follow the bear" to start off with though

In an interview with GOD (Brian Cant in other words)
"Do you know if any of the original puppets still exist?
Gordon kept absolutely everything up until a short while ago, when he set fire to the lot of it. He didn't want the puppets and sets to be used, sold and messed about with, so he made a bonfire of them. I'd have loved a few of those! "
noooooooooooooooooooooooo! There goes my dream of having an original windy miller I'm now in a very deep depression.

THE ADVENTURE GAME! now that rocked! Anyone got any drogna?
sport billy - now, and ex of mine knows all about sport billy and his omnisack (sp?) but I'd never heard of him.
Original Grange Hill (the 'sausage opening') with Danny Kendal, Bronson, and the Row-land love it!
ooh, how about those BBC kids programmes, umm, with Wordy, and the stories like Dark Towers and some eagle one (which they updated in the mid 90's, was class!).
There were also some other great BBC kids dramas, such as Running Scared, which used Kate Bush's "Running up that hill" for the soundtrack, absolute class. There was another one where some girl was going to jump from the top of a helter skelter or something, can't remember it's name but I'm sure I also read the book. It might have been Running Scared though? Thing to bear in mind is we're talking at least 16 years ago and I'm really old now and the memory has gone
Ahh, classic days of tv, no survior, no big brother, or any of the other crap we have today.
