Angry Blunkett after the next General Election

When Labour win the next General Election, how long will it be before David Blunkett introduces curfews & martial law, with interment for anyone who fails to toe the party line!

I bet if he could see he'd have a poster of Beriya on his bedroom wall

Nah... if past experience is anything to go by you will have to apply for a licence to go out after dark, so all the law abiding citizens will stay in..... the criminals will carry on as normal!

Sadly, this is precisely what will happen (if Labour win again), and law abiding citizens will be monitored, tracked and controlled; whereas (as ajm states), the criminal element will continue to operate in relative freedom

Trouble is, the opposition isn't any better. Conservatives are a bunch of upper class twits who have no real policies (other than to say the opposite to everything labour says), and the Lib dems are a bunch of no hopers that try seem to sit on the fence in every argument.

They're all as bad as each other IMO

Ahem.... Michael Howard is a Grammer School educated, self made politician. It's the smile on a stick that had the Public School education.

You don't have to go to public school to have an upper class attitude, (in fact I don't think I mentioned the type of school they went to).

Every time I see either Blair or Howard, I just think they look and sound like silly little boys in the playground rather than actual and potential leaders of the country. The commons bickering just seems really childish to me, and they're all as bad as one another...

Would you care to qualify that statement? I don't think I know what an 'upper class attitude' is.

Fair enough. So what do you think 'actual and potential leaders of the country' should sound like?

Not having a go... just curious.

I do hope that Labour don't get back in...it will look very bleak for the motorist if they do.

Perhaps upper class is the wrong term. I'm thinking of the holier than thou, I'm better than you, smug type of attitudes which Michael Howard has in spades.

Well, I'd like to hear good debating going on without descending to political point scoring for a start. Hearing all the backbenchers shouting stupid noises when people are speaking for example is just plain childish.

Getting politicians to actually answer a question would be another (have you seen the famous Newsnight interview with Howard / Paxman, where is was repeatedly asked the same question multiple times, and after a period of about 10 minutes, still hadn't answered it - and it was a yes / no answer required).

Having politicians that actually knew something about what goes on in real life would also be good. Somehow they always seem very detached from the people they are supposed to represent.

And it'd be good to get people that don't have such obviously false / smug grins

Not having a go... just curious.
No problem, I enjoy a good political debate sometimes

Labour are not going to get back in.

It's time for the other monkeys to have a go.

And yet when someone says they are fighting back by not paying, say council tax, they get treated like some sort of social lepper and castigated by the SN PC brigade. U lot need to get radical, as do the rest of this sheep like nation
