I gave up in September. Still OK, I do get the odd weak moment though but not given in yet. Not put on any weight and not turned into an annoying ex-smoker. Yet.

Gave up middle of October last year and havent touched one since Been a struggle at times but the craving passes after a couple of minutes.
How long does it take for your lungs to heal back to some sort of normaility/lose the tar? I smoked for 12 years with many of those smoking spliffs as well as ciggies so done a lot more damage than if I had just had ciggies My lungs feel much healthier now and its the first winter in as long as I can remember that I haven't had a cold! For me thats unheard of so well pleased with that Big test for me though will be going fishing with mates over the summer as they smoke and I used to smoke like a chimney when fishing

Stopped smoking for 3 years and vowed never to smoke again. I did actually dislike people smoking around me after a while, not because i wanted one but the smell of it.
Unfortunately, im back on at least 20 a day now ... had a cheeky one on holiday, then another, and another and so on... very stupid i know.
Im going to stop again when i can get in the right frame of mind to do it
Chris

3 weeks now after 20years.
Finding it really easy, is this just me or does it get harder. I used the gum for a week and now normal gum. Got jaw muscle like a crocodile but worth it, can even go on a bender without too much trouble
Anyway off to Bolney

Gave up on Jan 1st still not smoking and thats after 24 years of smoking. I tried one week on the patches then cold turkey and was suprised when it worked for me... still get the occasional urge for one but if I do I go and throw a fiver's worth of optimax in the Wagon

Gave up 12 August 2002 after doing 2 packs of Marlboro a day for 22 years. As others have said, get the odd craving for 10 seconds or so and then it goes away - the smell of the baccy burning is what does it but I can't stand second-hand smoke: that just reminds me of why I quit, how much I stank, and how much damage it does to your system. Just looking at those grey complexions is enough to keep me off the weed. Can't run for chips but then again I never was olympic material The bank balance is definitely improving and I'm now thinking of swapping out the standard back box for something a little more audible thanks to not spending my hard-earned on death sticks.
Bravo2zero - yup, not getting colds in winter is a major boost for me too. As for the fishing, take along some blackcurrant pastilles or something similar and chew those instead of a smoke...

Guys...
If you are still getting the cravings then I suggest you go and read
Allen Carr's... the EasyWay to Stop Smoking
Book made a huge difference and I'd tried patches, gum, inhilators, will-power, hyponosis and the book made it relatively easy with very few cravings
Worth reading even if you've stopped for some time

17 years and counting
I get the occasional craving which I deal with by cheating - my business partner smokes so I'll just light one of his for him. That first drag makies me feel sick and I'm done for another year or so...
Keep it up - it's so worth it
