Some kind of huge explosion AFAIK. They've closed all links to the outside world.
Anyone know anything?

Except that they reckon there wouldn't have been 3000 people anywhere near that area because its in the middle of nowhere.
They've basically blown up something that they shouldn't have!

from the bbc news website :
Is beginning to look a bit odd isn't it!
Nuclear bomb test perhaps - doubt it, as we'd pick up the radiation levels and seismic data.
But a Chinese railway worker at the Dandong border crossing, contacted by Reuters news agency, said he had not heard of a blast and had seen no signs of any emergency effort under way.

1. It really was a train accident as stated and North Korea is just being its usual, secretive self.
2. The explosion was a poorly timed attempt on Kim Jong Il, who reportedly passed through nine hours earlier. (Probably by a faction of the armed forces or security services)
3. The location and nature of the explosion were reported inaccurately and North Korea just went nuclear.
Number 3 is the least likely because it contradicts the reports, nobody is certain the North is even in a position to go nuke and the Chinese would be p/o'd like you would not believe if Kim did that right after meeting with them.
I wouldn't rule out option 2 though.
Bonkers.
