Alton towers...
How does the Hex work then?
Theres is definatly movement, but not sufficent enough to be upside down. I kept a lot on the chains on the log, they didnt move to violently upside down.
Also the Air was brilliant i thought, got stuck mind
oh and whats the new water park like?

Hex works by a combination of slight movement of the seats (5 - 10 degrees??) and major movment of the walls/floor cealing. The walls moving give you the visual sensation of tipping and the seats move just enough to re-enforce that through your motion sensor in your ears.
Pretty cool. But you can feel a few bits where they go out of sync

Yeah i know, i cheated a bit and also placed a coin on the floor just to give a sense of where i was. Also chains where a big give away they should have used stiff links. Still build up was good, reminded me of florida.

Have a look at this site for a voucher for reduced entry.
Dunno if it will work but worth a try.

Oblivion is crazy, I wouldn't go back on it after trying it! Apprently it sometimes breaks down at the top and you can be stuck there for an up to an hour... when it finally resets itself - blam - you fall without any warning at all!

Whilst queueing for Nemsis last year we watched some a 'train' get stuck on the first climb of Air.
Personally, Oblivion is the biggest rush of them all. Last two times I've been it was so quiet you could do it back-to-back as the queue was so small

Detonator, when it starts to drop everyone screams, then it all goes quiet as people lose the ability to make a noise...fantastic

Steve, Thorpe Park is much better than it was 5 years ago...Alton Towers has a better overall atmosphere, but Thorpe parks 10 loop coaster beats Air at AT for me, Nemesis is better at Thorpe than AT, Samurai is mental...Alton Towers does have Oblivion though, which is excellent....better than Detonator....have a look at their website...

If you go to Thorpe you should pay the £3 to park near the main entrance...less chance of car door dingers

You get there 30 mins before it opens on an 'early ride' ticket and ride Air and Nemesis before everyone else, then run over to Oblivion at the back of the park whilst everyone else goes to Air....on a hot sunny day you have to ride the logflume early too...gets stupidly busy in the afternoon.

If you pick an off peak day (look at the AT web site to see which days they are) it should be quieter.
We did a Sunday in August 2002 and that was fine. Oblivion twice in 10 minutes can't be moaned at Went mid-week in 2003 and got on the front of Air in around 30 minutes.
