Favorite Childhood Toys
Got to thinking of my fav toy when I was a kid, apart from the usual Star wars Figures and vechiles, Action mans, Weebles, matchbox cars ect one that really stands out are the Evel knievel toys with that wind up ramp thing.
Oh for the noise of it spinning faster and faster as you struggled to keep the thing flat on the floor, avoiding carpet burns on your knuckles, finally comes the realease and the Evel Knievel Bike goes zooming off veering right only to crash in true Evel Knievel style upagainst a brick wall or peice of Furniture.
I also had a Dragster which worked with the same winder and it would release a parachute to slow it down after a while (if it didnt hit anything)

Corgi and Dinky cars.
Garage sets to go with them.
Britain's "Swoppets" especially the Knights
Britain's "Model Gardens", which cost 1s 11d per pack, and I collected them like a b*gger.
My "Spud Gun", which fired a piece of potato with lethal force : if you didn't get the cap wet:
Alcazar

Transformers, Action Man, various Super Hero action figures, matchbox cars in conjunction with that loop-the-loop race track and road-maker, Scalextric, Hornby, Connect 4, Monopoly...
Plus lego, play-people (when I was a toddler), stickle-bricks, fuzzy-felt and of course those fabulous sporting games of Super Soccer(?) (press the heads to make the player kick) and some sort of Cricket game where the bowler used a ramp and a ball bearing, and the batsman had some sort of weird vaccuum-cleaner-shaped bat.

Starbird - point the noise up and the engine increased and vice-versa when you pointed the nose down, and it split into other ships too!

Yeah I had the test match game. The ball down the ramp was too boring though cos u couldnt hit six's with it going along the ground, so we did away with the bowler and just lobbed the ball at the batsman so it could (if caught right) be tonked all over the place

action man and lego, o and that yellow matchbox track you used to connect with loops that you used to run matchbox cars down (if you had a hill handy!) or you could get that thing with the big rotating sponge wheel in it which would boost the cars as they went thru it, class!

I went up in our loft last year to try and find mine, and sad to say that after sticking some new batteries in it, it simply didnt want to know..
Wifey ended up buying me a Big trak off of Ebay as a Xmas pressie - tops! - still in orginal box and mint condition!
Just need a trailer now

I loved lego. I think its great for kids creativity.
I also liked playing with Barbie, Sindy and Action man (they always ended up having babies...how?)
The small handheld nintendo games were also fun.
Other kids toys always seemed more exciting.

You may well be right mate but like you say great fun when you could fire them at your mates
I also remember havin a bow and arrow set where i took the suckers off the end and sharpened the arrow point and then shot at spadgers (sparrows) in the back garden. Never hit one though (thank God)
<now wondering why you dont see many sparrows around any more>
Perhaps peeps had more success with their bow and arrows
