Ocean Finance? are you joking? afaik they consolidate debts against equity in your house. if you want to pay 150% or more of the value of the debt in interest, *and* risk losing your home if don't make payments, then go right ahead. personally i would avoid them like the plague of con merchants that they are. if i needed i loan i would look at cahoot, northern rock and tesco

Sorry. Should have put smilies in the post as I was joking. There have been a few threads recently taking the p*ss out of Ocean Finance and the "real customers" they have that don't seem to realise that paying £20 a month for infinity on a loan secured on their house isn't necessarily the best way to clear a £10000 credit card bill.

Alliance & Leicester, Egg and Direct Line seem competitive among each other at the moment.

Try the flexible loan from cahoot - works just like a overdraft with a low interest rate (6.2% variable) and you can pay in as little or as much as you want, do bank to bank transfers etc. all online.

Highly recommended.

Gary.

Davie, click here.

If an unsercured personal loan is best then Blobster is right, LV do appear to have the best rate. However, the advertised APR is not always what you will be quoted based on your (your gf's) personal circumstances.

For example, my Mother applied for a loan with Direct Line who were advertising something like 6.2% APR at the time. Mum, who has spotless credit history etc, was offered closer to the region of 9%.

Similarly when i took out my car loan Sainsburys offered me 6.7% rather than their advertised (lower) rate. Pays to shop around (alot !!) mate. All the best.
