Mr Gee - anything you do in terms of revenge, will no doubt be reported by your neighbour to the council / police, which in turn will build up the volume of evidence against you. End result being that you are more likely to have some sort of eviction / restraining order agaisnt you than your neighbours.

There's a lot of missing information here. What are they complaining to the council about? Do you hear their TV, and is it distracting? Do either of you have small kids that might be disturbed by the noise?
Have you tried writing a polite letter asking what the problem is, ie. what it is that you do that they think is unreasonable? Explain that you don't want to stay on bad terms (which you don't, really...) but that you can't hope to mend relations without knowing what specifically the problem is.
Closed curtains during the day isn't an unreasonable security precaution - I live next door to a 6th form college and have a nice TV and hi-fi, so I leave them shut when I'm at work to reduce any temptation. Every Hallowe'en I wish I had an intercom too. (And iron gates, and a pack of hounds...).

I have been involved in an escalating neighourial feud with a load of scummy oiks renting the house next door. I had eggs over the fence at the car, all night parties, shouting and screaming in the street, several doorstep confrontations (including 2 fairly violent ones) and the phone line cut twice outside our house. The retaliation stopped when I finally lost my temper and "entered" the property (back door was unlocked) at 04:00 and cut their phone line on the inside of the house. I guess that shook them up a bit and we ignored each other after that, but it only truly ended when they were evicted and they left abusive messages about me stuck on the inside of all the windows!
Having been through it I would try and avoid an escalating conflict. Even if you get the measure of them it can still come back to haunt you when you sell the house. As it stands you will probably have to declare the fact that you and the neighbours have made formal complaints about each other.
In my case I knew they were pikeys and wouldn't make it official - I also knew from our doorstep confrontations that they would not be willing to go as far as I would, and in that respect I guess I was lucky.

Not very constructive advice here (nor practical), but often the only way to resolve a situation like this is to move.
One of my relatives had a serious problem with some neighbours and ultimately the only thing they could do was move. They tried the council and they could do nothing, and the Police would only get involved if actual crimes were committed. Apparently violent threats and drilling holes through adjoining walls (amongst other things) aren't crimes nowadays.
Revenge/retribution would only make things worse and could very likely backfire on you.
Make your next house a detached one.

Its actually got to a point were my wife does want to move, but we have invested a lot of money and effort into the current house and like it too much to move.
Anyhow, couldn't afford anything else at the moment going by current property prices, let alone a detached property.
Will be going home soon and I am sill worked up about the situation.

there's minor satsifying ones and then major ones to get riod of em. a minor one is a fish tied to the top of their exhaust muffler. stinks and hard to trace for a while.
better still is milk in the carpet if you get the chance. but if they get wind of these (and they will ) then its just gonna escalate.
Like most say if they are being seriously unreasonable bets bet is video evidence built up over time etc.

If moving is not an option you could try some of these classics...
Order 5 tonnes of sand/manure/soil and have it dumped on their drive.
Repeatedly order something from every take away in the area to be delivered to their house - they'll be banned in no time.
Wrap some dog mess in loo roll. Put it on their door step and set fire to it. Hopefully the guy will come out in his slippers to stamp out the fire. Assuming you can get them to come to the door that is.
Apply for every piece of junk mail you can in their name/address.
Contact the local Jehovah's Witnesses and ask them round for a chat - giving your neighbours address.
Contact the local travelling driveway tarmac people and order a new driveway for them.
Order some donkey **** and have it delivered to their address.
Find out their phone number and put an appropriate advert in the "Men seeking Men" section of a few popular newspapers/magazines.
That should do for the weekend, I'll see if I can think of some more for Monday...

The day they leave for a weeks holiday (or longer) get access and spray their living room carpet with water (plus the rest if you want ...). Spray through the letterbox). Then sprinkle liberally with watercress ....... :-)
Enjoy!

Enjoy!

Call the police saying that you "you heard a man and woman shouting at each other, went to have a look and you "think you saw him holding a gun outside the front door"
fight or flight Mr Gee.

Try the Ozzy Osbourne approach to neighbourly relations....
Stand in the garden baiting for a scrap, get pissed off, go in to yourkitchen, grab a mouldy ham joint and then lob it through their living room window.
Class!
Seemed to work for him!

Mr Gee, had loadsa trouble with my neighbours for no apparent reason as well. Contacted a solicitor for advice. Solicitor advised that if they sent a letter to neighbour then it would HAVE to be declared when house is sold. I'm moving now and neighbour is happy, he gets his own way. Gave me abuse the other night just for having the roof down on my car !! I stopped him in his tracks when I lost it big time with him, first time I'd lost it like that (I've a vicious temper when I loose it !!) Haven't had a word from them since. Them and other reasons are why I'm moving. I love my house, can't stand the neighbours so am getting out. Don't know what to advise other than try standing your ground with them, it may work. Personally I wouldn't go as low as 'revenge', but thats IMHO. Good luck anyway.
