Unhappy OMG, Just crashed the scooby :-(

Oh dear, just crashed the scooby, going round Raleigh Island, (Nottingham) on way back from friends, put my toe down ever so slightly just before the bend, didn't see the diesel in the road and slid sideways into the side of a Vauxall Astramax van, nothing i could do to stop, we stopped exchanged details, and he commented that he thought these cars stuck like glue when going round corners, well normally they do providing there's no diesel in the road.

Nobody hurt in the ding dong, wife wasn't too happy about it tho, but as the chap says "Sh*t happens".

Kev / Adam see you 2moro at Scooby clinic, any chance of a hire car ??

pics are coming up. Least youre ok mate and its only 'minor' damage. Could have been a lot worse. These wallies that allow diesel to spill should be banned from the roads.

i had quite a nasty accident after sliding on diesel about 2yrs ago.. road closed for 2 1/2 hrs.. luckily avoided any other cars..

looks like you got away with it lightly really, hope it all goes back together well..

mines going in this week to sort out a couple of dings that people have done for me.. rear arch and boot lid after some idiot left a 8" dent accross it in a car park last week, the dent pushed back out, but left ripples..

Report the diesel spillage to the police ASAP (if they didn't attend in the first place)

Glad you are unhurt

In all my years of driving I have never seen/experienced a diesel spill, excuse my ignorance but is this caused by people overfilling their tanks or a tanker with a leak??

Red face

Either or DannyB but very common on roundabouts and it's a pure nightmare for bikers

I had a complete 360 spin on diesel on a slight bend at around 25mph (just getting started ) and I really couldn't believe how bad it was... got out the car almost in shock and there was the dirty feckin evidence on the road

Bonkers.

PS Sorry to hear 'bout the accident Dazza - stuff like that makes you think, could happen to anyone.

Sorry to see that Dazza, came off a bike once because of a diesel spill, unbelievably dangerous, especially with a bit of drizzle on it. Those who drop it should be made responsible for the damage caused if they get caught.

Diesel is extemely dangerous, I saw a spill when it was too late, luckily there was plenty of room and no cars about when I was completing my 360 degree spin. Wheel arches stank of diesel for a while after. No tyre screeching, just a well lubricated spin! No point beating yourself up over it, all you can do is inform the poilce as you have already done, so that others don't suffer the same fate. You can't really drive around every corner as if you're expecting the road to be covered in diesel, otherwise you'd be travelling at 5 mph everywhere.

Glad to hear you're ok and the car doesn't look half as bad as it could have done!
