Default cleaning glasses really well(specs that is) ??

Ive been wearing glasses for ages. However my current pair I just cannot get FULLY clean. I wonder if maybe Ive buggered the lenses (they were coated originally for protection) If I look at them at the wrong/right angle I can see the kind of haze which seems impossible to wipe off

Ive used oakley bags, hot water and soap, cleaning spray from an optition amongst other things..............

any other suggestions speccy wearers please

Andy

to be honest ive had mine for 2 years or so and the only thing that gets them clean is when i breath on the lenses to steam them up, then wipe them clean with a cloth, make sure the cloth is clean :P dont be frightened to put some pressure on the glass either

This happened to me a while back - the protective anti-glare coating had worn off over 2 years as I cleaned the lenses, even using a microfibre cloth. You can get it removed and re-coated but may not be worthwhile, may as well just get new specs.

I use that foam spray that is sold for cleaning screens and keyboards although this must be similar to the opticians stuff that you have tried? DL

As Ernie said to Eric "You must have good eyes to see through them"

Agree with Apparition - can't beat Fairy Liquid, but I use cold water to rinse off.

Yes sounds like the coating is crazed

If you have MAR coating? it may be peeling off under the Hard Coated layer?

How old are they?

Where did you get them from?

If you buy any coated glasses from the shop i work in they come with a 2 year guarantee incase this happens

This has happened to every pair of coated glasses I have owned.

That's why now I never have them coated.

Cheers

The coatings that we are talking about is MAR(multi anti reflction coating) and will NEVER stay on the lenses for life

It has a 7 layer coating over a Hard Coat and WILL fail at some piont

Very good for driving and PC use but a pain to keep clean

Just depends on what warrenty and how much your Optician will charge you for it

Yes Nikon is good but Zeiss are better for caoting (but then that's what you pay for)Essilor are also very good with coatings

The problen is if you goto the cheaper Opticians and buy these coatings you will NOT get Zeiss/Nikon/Essilor for £30 but you can ASK for it

Most of them stock the lenses ready coated( S/V D/V ) but Higher powers,Bifocals,Varifocals need to have the coating added
