Anyone work for the post office ?
I sent a pair of bells to someone first class post recorded delivery last friday and they have vanished , I have contacted the post office but they just dont seem interested in trying to find out anything about it telling me it's a untrackable service , does anyone have any inside help they could offer , Cheers Ian

hi ian
im a postie in swansea, the prob with recorded is that its not treated any different from 1st or 2nd class mail, it could have been missorted by some muppet, sent to the wrong place or put with the 2nd class parcels, ive sold loads of models and brochures on ebay, had 1 disappear for a month, 2 went missing all together, i dont think its trackable , you will only know if its been signed for

I've had stuff go astray for a while as well and one particular parcel took 7 weeks to get there. I suppose due to the volume some are bound to go astray from time to time. The most recent parcel I sent was delivered back to me as they clearly didnt read the "sender" and "to" address's properly which were clearly written on it On the plus side they sent it again FOC ....

the only thing about recorded is that you can prove that the person that you sent the parcel to recived it. the only way you can track a parcel is to send it special delivery but its a little more expencive. with special delivery evertime someone movesthe package it gets signed for.

I've lost count of the number of parcels I've had go "missing" due to the PO and Parcel Farce. At one point it was hovering around 80% and the companies I deal with were threatening to blacklist me Funny how I get all my junk mail, and yet DVD/CD's go astray all the time. Bunch of thieving *****. I'd stop buying over the net, but I refuse to support the BPI in any way, and love getting one over on Mr.Taxman

if its been signed for by the postman then you should report him, as its a serious offence for them. ring your local sorting office and speak to a boss, not a manager

The best trick the PO do is when you have a parcel sent to you. Instead of bothering to bring you the item they simply post the card saying 'we tried to deliver but you weren't in'.
Simple laziness. I've had this many times and confronted the postman who admitted they all do it as they hedge their bets that no one will be in.
It doesn't happen now, after a stern email or two.
