Default Interesting Programme for potential self builders

For those who are considering attempting it (like me) watch Safe as Houses on BBC 2 now.

It gives you a flavour of the realities of actually doing it, or I should say trying to do it. Mirrors my experience of just how hard it is to find and then secure a plot. Tells it like it is - so far.

Unhappy

There you go. They fell at the first hurdle. Couldn't find a plot, and any they fancied had problems. Then, as I found, at around the same time, all the prices went up massively - out of range of being economically viable.

I wanted them to find somewhere, to give me hope, but it just confirmed my experience.

Yea, but prices have exploded there too? Also there are also massive chances of getting ripped off unless you know the territory well, which I don't.

Yeah they do seem to have some weird property developing laws.

I've got some info on a not so "Brit popular" Costa somewhere, I'll dig it out sometime.

Alternatively theres Wales, then again....!

Mate, West Wales was where I was looking Pembrokeshire, Camarthen etc. That's where the best profits could be made. Not anymore. I watched land prices more or less triple in a matter of months. F**k I should have bought a plot, sat on it for a year then resold it. Too late now though.

Its spotting the potential risers thats the key - big bucks but with bigger risks.

Find a nice Welsh farmer with some land thats not designated agricultural and you'll be laffing boyo!
