Joining the police force
Afternoon everyone,
Im looking for some advice and opinions on the above really. Its something ive been thinking over for quite a while now and is something which really appeals as a career choice. Has anybody here recently joined / know someone who has / has been in the force for some time and want to give me an idea of what to expect, if the job has been what you expected etc etc.
Its something which looks dead interesting but would be very useful to get a real life opinion of the job and its pros and cons.
Can people either post up any information here or email me as per profile. Thanks in advance,
David

My step-brother joined at a relatively young age and the transformation in his character was a bit worrying to say the least, maybe he was just a bit too young and the brainwashing worked
He has loads of friends though................................
...............................but they are all in the police too

Your best bet is to go to your local Police station during the day and talk to somebody from your local force. I have a couple of friends in the police and they love the job, like any job there are good points and bad. I'm trying to join at the moment too . Have a look on www.policecouldyou.co.uk and good luck, the recruitment process takes ages .

I didnt say you were all bad.
Just the ones who are attracted to me, tend to be annoying.
I was right about the friends bit though.......Billy

I applied to join when I was 18 (15 years ago) But didn't pass the medical as my eyesight was to bad, I'd probably get in now, but I'm not sure I want to anymore.

I really don't know what I want to do when I grow up, but I have been looking at the links suggested here, and may consider the police, tho not as a beat officer, probably specialise- either dogs or underwater search, tho traffic may be a possibility....
