It may have come to the attention of some of the trail riding and off-road 4x4 enthusiasts on this forum that many of the Byways Open to All Traffic (BOATs) and Roads Used as Public Paths (RUPPs) in England and Wales may soon be closed to mechanical vehicles if proposed Government legeslation is put into place. This could be a real threat to some rally events which require access to stages via these unsurfaced roads (ESPECIALLY ROAD RALLIES) for either competitors or spectators. I therefore ask anyone whom this may concern either as a off-road/rally enthusiast, event organiser or anyone with objection to legitimate byway users being outlawed from using a minute percentage of unsurfaced roads for safe and considerate recreation and indeed sport, to sign the online petition at:

this does not affect official rallies as they area is closed to the public, it only affects byways were people are using them for scrambling and using 4x4's off road.

I actually agree with this nothing like having a walk in the country and 5 scramble bikes come hurtling past at 50+. considering horses use the same trails as well.
