They are extremely illegal but at the same time innefective. Drunk people tend to not to be effected as much from past experience with being stung by a friend when I was in Australia as a prank. Don't believe me? Look at Jackass where they do it on their genitals.

The tasers the police are using with the barbs on wires are extremely effective because the current is delivered straight to the nervous system. You get walloped you are going down, its completely involuntary, trust me!

If anyone is interested I can legally buy Tazers and asps and the riot battons the American police carry.
My local shop also sells 9mm blanks filled with CS gas or tear gas not sure which.
Samouri swords, crossbows, etc

Anything below 500000 volts is a toy.
The StunMaster 625000 volts will do the job, works off 3x9v batteries, never could understand how that worked.
They are about £50.00.
They are illegal, same as a firearms offence if your caught,I believe.
PS. I havent got one.........

Cheers.
I think the 'voltage amplifier' is an important bit......
WARNING: If your thinking of using one of these weapons for self preservation, ie zapp an attacker then run off and save yourself.
Be warned you COULD kill him/her. If your attacker has a dodgey heart or is using a pacemaker, the above weapon could easily kill them.
Manslaughter charge at the least.

Just want to mention Jackass, they were using a muscle stimulater thing, so not exactly the same as a tazer, but guess the reaction of the muscle might be, I don't know. Sure as hell would not want a tazer in the gooch, ouch!

"a lower voltage and therefore higher current would be more effective"
In this case, the above does not apply. The stun-gun uses an extremely high voltage to disrupt the electrical signals in the nerves, and to exercise the muscles by contracting them at high frequency, forming lactic acid and causing fatigue in the muscle. The desired effect is to stun, not permanently fry

First - Good ol pepper spray in jonny's eyes and face, nice
Second - Hand held stun gun, he didnt look happy
Last - The proper tazer with barbed hooks shooting out. He went down. Getting the barbs out didnt look nice either.
