Default Whats the fine for driving through a red light?

A friend (not me!) got flashed by a traffic camera at the weekend for driving through a red light.

I guess the fine isn't just a speeding ticket?

yep £60 and 3 points ............. Police said I had done that very same thing (they were sitting in a patrol car, as I passed through on Amber !!!!).

I asked for it to go to court (thinking justice would prevail!!) ......... Nope, still got 3 points and £60 fine + court costs ............Bunch of w@nkers !!!!

It seems to me that the magistrate listens more to the Police fabricating their lies than me telling the truth!

Nate.

Here in Germany it is an immediate ban and fine no questions asked.

Most offences will be dealt with by way of a fixed penalty notice.

HOWEVER, if there is evidence of driving without due care/dangerous driving, i.e excess speed through a junction, a longer period of time between the lights going to red and the car going through the lights etc, it MAY be dealt with by way of a summons. In anycase, your 'friend' should expect a letter of intended within 14 days.

Nate, and there's you NEVER breaking any traffic rules See ya Thursday

Grovesy,
In Germany you don't get points for every speeding offense, so its swings and roundabouts. So they don't always take an uberly(sic) hard line. You need to be 40kmph over out of Town and 30kmph over in town to solicit a ban. Points and fines are graded exactly to the speed so everyone gets the same deal, regardless of how the magistrate is feeling.
I think its 18 points for a ban with a warning to change your driving habits at 14. You can reduced points immediately by taking government driver trainng. Once banned you need to take the 'idiot test' to get your license back. All points are cumulative and you need 2 years with 0 points for them to drop off your record. I've got 6 points in Flensburg computer for 39 and 29 over both in A/bahn 100 limited zones. All in all I think its a good bit more 'progressive' than the UK and certainly less harsh.

Cheers
Cammy

Lightbulb New laws needed.

Driving through a red light should mean circumcision without anaesthetic!
