Angry Getting rid of smell of diesel.....

Have tried everything to get rid of the smell of diesel from a cover that I want to use over the rear seats for the dog.

Have washed the said cover 4 times, pre-wash and hottest wash and smelly fabric conditioner.
Sprayed it with Febreze
Soaked it in bath overnight and added bottle of white vinegar

and still the bloody thing stinks, anyone else suggest something else I can try.

Thumbs up

Buy another one you cheapskate?

The time, money and effort you've put into that one would have bought you a new quilt from any major store.

WHAT!?!?

TBH have looked at others, but have seen none are that as big as this particular cover... I can fold it 3 thicknesses which is ideal for muddy/wet dog.

Looked at that site Chris, a few more things I can try thx

Cool

Red- Sorry but saying you've looked won't wash.

My Super King sized quilt would cover my entire vehicle and all for less than you've spent already.

Folded 8 times it should fit your requirements!!

Try Halfrauds, they do waterproof padded covers for the backseat

Have the waterproof one too that goes underneath. My GSD likes swimming and paddling in muddy ponds.

Still not gonna BUY one spoon not when this is perfectly adequate

Petrol. That will get rid of the smell of Diesel.

Sorry, couldnt resist!

The can of coke might be worth a try, it will clean rust off coins etc.

Mmm - dunno I would want to be putting sugar filled phosphoric acid in to my washing machine, a hand wash with Coke maybe, but I can just see the warranty claim now...

Red- Don't like to point out the obvious but it isn't adequate, it stinks of diesel, the same diesel you can't get rid of.

For my dad's overalls we usually wash them in a normal wash and just hang them out to dry on the line. Works fine.
