How much do you drink in a week?
I was just curious as to whether I am particullaly bad, or pretty average when it comes to drinking, anyone know of some sort of average stats for the UK?
I usually go out Friday and Saturday night, and have approx 5/6 pints, two shorts (usually vodka and coke), and one or two shots a night, which actually seems pretty normal to me now, but apart from the mates I drink with, I have no concept of how this fits into most peoples consumption on a weekend.
I have about 3/4 beers during the week as well, with going to restaurants, or having a couple beers at home, so a good estimate would be about 13 beers, 4 shorts, and 3 shots per week, sounds pretty bad to me!!
Also have about one heavy one a month, which involves about 5 more shots usually, god, Ive just been thinking of the costs and effects of it all, think I must cut back!! Its been particuallaly bad the past month or so, which has got me thinking about it all, cant be too good for the old body.

Thats OK for an average week,. Nothing to worry about. Start worrying when you're drinking litres of vodka/wiskey a week.
13 a week is eff all.
Edit - If you think 13 pints is heavy, that big dart playing guy (don't know name) says he needs 25 bottles of holsten pills to settle his nerves before a major game/championship

Nah that aint that much really, before xmas I used to drink a crate of 24 cans a week, plus whatever I would drink at the weekend (maybe 8-9) and maybe a couple of pints in the week.
Didn't seem all that bad until you get questionaires that ask units consumed a week & you actually work it out lol.
Don't drink much at all now, mainly cause no job & no money lol - Otherwise I'd be just as bad

The current champion, Andy "the Viking" Fordham, is something of an outsize national hero. Weighing in at 190kg with a brown mullet haircut the Guardian likens to "a squirrel's brush, hanging long down his back and a full beard and moustache surrounding the sort of lips that look born to blow a trumpet", Fordham became World Professional Darts champion in January, earning £50 000 in the process.
The Viking's preparation for a match is in keeping with his nickname: he downs 25 bottles of Holsten Pils "to bring himself into the zone", followed by a couple of double brandies for balance

Have you seen the size of him though!
His wrists are the size of my waist!!!!
He's hugenormas!
It probablly takes 20 bottles to touch the sides.
It is obvoiusly not doing him any good though did you see the sweat pouring off him during his matches.

I got 56 points as well Although I just go out-drunk by my g/f's parents this weekend. I arrived at 2:30 was given a bowl of soup and a glass of champagne then had caviar and herring, with 2 triple Stolly's on the side. Went to the pub and had 4 Guiness, back home for a large G&Ts, then probably a bottle of wine each with dinner. Some whisky and port followed and I was in bed by 10, quite happy! Felt fine in the morning, was walking the dog at 8am. This is what happens when you hang about with old peolple who can drink.

So althou I drink nearly twice the recommended amount ever week, im still doing pretty well against most on here?
Hehe, this is great, my liver, althou quite probably irrepairably damaged and overutilised, is still better off than a lot of other peoples livers, now thats what I like to hear!!
I must admit, when I worked in London I was worse, wine bars and working for a succesful company were a dangerous combination, im glad to be out of it!!
Thought I was pretty bad. I am well over the recommended, but it seems about normal. Recon im going to try and have the next 4 weeks under 30 units a week, do a bit of a Barney Gumble, see the world through sober eyes.
Ill let you know if I can manage it...
