Things to do in Banbury/Bicester area this weekend
The wife has booked us in to a Hotel thats smack bang in the middel of nowhere and I was just browsing the web to see if theres anything to do around the area. Apart from visiting the retail outlet village has anybody got any sensible recomendations. Any decent pubs/clubs, etc .....

Bicester Village. You can shop for designer stuff there for cheap and I go there quite a bit. If not, wait for Sunday and Santa Pod will be open so you can race.

Visit Oxford. Lovely place - loads to do and see. Great boozers too. And, if you can find it, go to the Trout Inn - gorgeous pub, with superb food.

Avoid the Trout if you want good food - its not the place it used to be!
Nice location for a drink but that's all.....its now the usual microwaved preprepared rubbish and if its busy, prepare to queue for half an hour to place your food order - all in all a bit of a tourist trap! Its better in the winter but your better off having a drink there and then carry on driving over the bridge to Whytham and eat at the White Hart - the service is a bit mixed (welcome to Oxford ...) but at least the food is half decent!
Have a nice weekend

OK. I live in Bicester having moved here from Near Wycombe (Amersham). I can confirm that the only decent attraction in the area is Bicester Village. Mind you, it gets very busy very quickly at the weekends so make sure you get there early.
You could try the Cotswold Wildlife Park which, is quite nice and set in some lovely countryside.
Silverstone is about 15 mins from Bicester. If you're a cheapskate you could go for a "romantic wlak" in the countryside to please the missus then just happen to stumble upon the circuit
There is an Ice cream "farm" at Weston-On-The-Green which has some nice ice cream but I'm not sure if they're open at this time of year.
Stowe house near Buckingham is quite nice, nice scenic gardens and on a good day you can easily hear the racing at Silverstone. On a Grand Prix day it sounds really good
Milton Keynes could be worth a trip if you or your other half are into shopping. It's 35 mins away from Bicester and has a huge shopping centre plus a real snow ski slope and numerous night clubs.

The Bell at Lower Heyford and The Ben Johnson at Weston-On-The Green are bthe quite good for lunch. The Weston Manor is also good for food though it is a little expensive.
The village of Burford is quite nice, near to Cotswold Wildlife Park and usually on the tourist trail thanks to it's "quaint" looks and village atmosphere/shops.
Do you have a scoob? I'll keep my eyes peeled.
