Question How old were you when you became a parent?

All the baby threads have made me think about this. At what age did you become or plan to become a parent?

26, 28 and will be 31 when the next one is born

Decided to have our first after being with the missus for 13 weeks

We've had our ups and downs but its all been worth it. 'Spose I had better make an honest woman of her - well perhaps after kid #5

Default Erm, 20!

Yep, its a bit chavvy, but I'll still be 20 when the first is born

(Wife is 19)

Erm....

Think I'll shut up now, or people will think I'm odd. Or Pikey. Or both.

Evo - fair point, but there's no point in me worrying about that now, is there? i don't think they offer "sale or return" on these things .

Damien666 - I wouldn't worry about what people think when they see you have children, its got nothing to do with anyone else and mostly certainly doesn't allow you the heady stereo-typical accolade of "Man with Chav"

I was 24 when my daughter was born and my GF was 19. You do get the odd stare but its mostly becuase we are considered to be as you say "Chavvy" or "Pikey" or any other name for young people with children (and neither of us own anything thats even slightly burberry in nature) , and yet we both have good jobs, nice cars (well mine is hers is pants IMHO) and our own privately built house.

The stares are usually becuase young people in our position and with our material possessions must be drug dealers!

Damian, your child will be fine as long as they take after the mother!! It's not the fact that you and Cat are having a baby so young that's chavvy or pikey, it's the way you dress!

W69, she's his wife, not girlfriend!

.... now where can I get "baby bling" from???

[Please note I work with Damian and I'm not randomly taking the ****!!!]

It's silly that people should stare at young parents, and condemn them as 'pikey'. It's biologically the correct time to have children. I believe the ideal age for a woman to have a child is 22. It's society that's shifting - Mother Nature doesn't give a damn about that though.

I will be 28 this year and I just can't see it happening. The desire for it just isn't there. What's the likelihood of this thought changing?

Good point, both!

That leads us onto another subject altogether though - I don't want a woman either! Well, not for more than one night anyway!

AT 15 I moved in with my X wife Dawn (5 years older) and played dad to her 2 kids. One was 4 months old.

Don't think I was quite ready
