AUTOSPORT SHOW and cctv/speed VAN
#1
What did you think of the show this year?
Also did anyone who went on Friday see the unmarked POLICE van parked on one of the NEC roads on the way out, 2 what looked like CCTV cams sticking out the rear of it?
Do you think this was cctv, or speed camera?
It was still on the nEC complex, no signs anywhere saying speed cameras in use...?

Went on Friday but did not see the van you described. Where was it parked?
Thought I saw a camera van on bridge over new M6 toll section, but cannot be sure. Any know if they have been used on this road yet? And if it was, why target a completely empty and safe section of motorway - other than for financial reasons?

You should drop the ABD Assoc of British Drivers a quick email on the Toll Road van - they would make some publicity out of that one.
I know what you mean - no lorries, empty road, cruise control possibly set at 85, 15 minutes from start to finish. Well worth £2!

It was just on the exit road between two roundabouts leaving car park N heading towards Motorway exits.
TAx disc, never thought of that one, it had two cctv type cameras mounted int he back windows....
Fingers crossed it wasnt a speed camera

Yes, we saw it on our way out. The one thing you can be pretty confident about is that it wasn't a speed enforcement van, as there were no speed camera warning signs on it, or indeed anywhere else in the car park, and in any case, the mobile Gatso's cameras don't look like the ones sticking out of that.
The vehicle excise vans normally have a twin camera setup, so this seems to be the likeliest explanation.

Bartman, while the use of the SORN is now mandatory, they'd still need to use some form of in-field enforcement if they were going to nab untaxed cars as they're actually driven.
Bob, seem to recall that there were a couple of motorcycle cops a little further down the road from the van, so presumably they'd be signalled to pull over any car that came up as a "fail".
